Element Logic implements AutoStore at Continental
Continental, a technology company for vehicles, announced the start of their AutoStore operations empowered by Element Logic at their Periférico Plant in Guadalajara, Mexico. This comprehensive material storage and picking system features various state-of-the-art robots, grids, ports, and controllers, making it a unique installment in the Americas.
“This system allows us as a plant to maximize floor space utilization, achieve various savings, and increase efficiency in material handling; all of which greatly helps us in continuing to deliver the highest quality products to our customers while meeting delivery deadlines,” Sergio Márquez Oriza, Plant Director at Continental Periférico, said.
“Element Logic has a proven track record of successfully meeting and exceeding Continental’s expectations in Europe,” Krish Nathan, CEO – Americas at Element Logic, said. “We are very excited; there was a lot of confidence in us, and Element Logic’s global infrastructure was key.”
With a total investment of €3 million the system includes eight robots operating 24/7 managed autonomously by highly specialized software, providing fast and easy material flow needed for the production floor. Established in 2002, the plant employs around 2,500 employees and is dedicated to designing, manufacturing, and testing analog and digital instrument clusters, as well as Head-Up Displays for both light and commercial vehicles, primarily serving the North American market.
“Despite the challenging industry landscape, we must continue to make room for innovation and optimization in all our operations in Mexico,” Marco Galluzzi, Focus Country Head for Mexico, remarked. “The market expects our company to be in constant improvement, and this AutoStore is an example of how Continental continues to prepare itself and acquire innovative, cutting-edge tools to shape the future of mobility from Mexico.”
